Currently, CATES schedules regular test prep classes in the fall and spring for students preparing for the SAT I, SAT II Subject Tests, and ACT. In the summer, CATES offers similar classes in an “intensive” format, which are condensed over a shorter-period of time, as opposed to the school-year classes, which extend over several months.
We’re constantly developing more programs and adding more classes, so we invite you to sign up for our CATES newsletter so we can keep you updated
May SAT Prep Class (NYC)
The CATES May SAT Prep Class is for Juniors looking to take the SAT before their finals at the end of Junior year and summer begins. The class provides students with a focused, personalized, and concise course of study in preparation for the May 5th, 2012 SAT. Classes consist of 2-5 students and are guided by a CATES Class Leader. The curriculum includes ten classes on content & strategy that cover all aspects of the SAT, four free mock tests using actual tests given in the past year, and two mock test review sessions.
Students begin the program with a diagnostic mock test to assess their abilities. The diagnostic acts as the basis for the material covered in the first month of the program. Students take another mock test at the beginning of the second month to gauge their progress. From there, the Class Leader uses the information gained from the second mock test to steer the next month of study. The course concludes with two mock tests and mock test review sessions during which the Class Leader provides individualized feedback to each of the students to help them reach their target scores for the May 5th SAT.
